Welcome to the neighborhood
Founded in 1912, Gramercy Neighborhood Associates, Inc. (GNA) is one of the oldest community groups in New York City. GNA is dedicated to enhancing the aesthetic qualities and historic character of the Gramercy Park neighborhood, supporting area residents and businesses, and to developing a sense of community.
GNA was originally formed to stop the extension of Lexington Avenue through Gramercy Park, a private greenspace laid out in 1831, That battle won, we continue to engage in a variety of community service and preservation projects
We are committed to an ongoing dialogue and exchange of ideas and opinions among the Board, membership and neighbors to support mutual goals. With a rich history as one of the city's oldest community groups, Gramercy Neighborhood Associates is passionate about helping to improve the quality of life for residents, businesses, and organizations in the Gramercy neighborhood. Partnerships and Collaborations
GNA undertakes many neighborhood activities and projects that support the neighborhood and the quality of life of Gramercy residents. We host clean and green events around the neighborhood to keep the neighborhood pristine and safe, and we enhance the aesthetic quality of the neighborhood by sponsoring initiatives like the Bishop Crook Lamppost Project, which replaced the neighborhood's modern street lamps with the historic bishop's crook lampposts seen around the neighborhood.
In addition, GNA helps support local businesses and neighborhood schools by sponsoring events that help promote their development and future growth, like our popular Canine Parade, Taste of Gramercy Food Festival, and the annual Gramercy Art Show.
